In the context of the Viertelfestival 2017 in lower austria Birgit and Peter Kainz are presenting a sociocultural intervention from May to August 2017.
With the help of this sociocultural HUMANE-project the carriers of the Recognitionprize of the Cultureprize lower austria 2016 are placing new “Question-marks”!
30 Maypoles reused from the year 2016 from 30 communities of the Weinviertel are carrying those messages. From May to August 2017 they will turn into 15 flag installations which will each be 14 meters high and carry questions about life, living and desire and even further beyond that.
Spread across seven kilometers from Eichenbrunn across Gaubitsch and Unterstinkenbrunn further to Stronsdorf two Maypoles will be placed every 500 meters connected by a large flag. Those installations will stand strong as “Question-marks” to encourage people to think, wonder and dream. One separate flag will also be placed in MAMUZ-Mistelbach.
In order to receive good answers, better questions have to be asked. That is why Birgit & Peter Kainz want to offer thought provocing questions and show mutability through their flag installations which will anchor humanisms as a guidline in the countries around Laa.
From the region for the people from the region. Any questions?
To recycle the flags when the installation is over we will cut and saw them in cooperation into simple but beautiful shopping bags.
